Land Securement Coordinator
Theresa brings over a decade of experience from her work in a diversity of sectors, including government, non-profit, academic, and private industry, in the areas of agricultural and environmental consulting, project management, teaching, finance, and program delivery. As a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.), her areas of practice include land evaluation, classification, mapping, conservation, and management.
Theresa is a PhD student at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan, investigating opportunities to expand ecological connectivity and climate resilience in the Okanagan with a focus on grassland conservation corridors. She is part of the research team with The Okanagan Institute for Biodiversity, Resilience, and Ecosystem Services (BRAES). Her Master’s thesis titled “Integrating Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity in Landscape Management for Multifunctional Agroecosystems: A Case Study in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia” focused on applied agroecology and landscape connectivity.
Theresa is passionate about environmental and agricultural stewardship, sustainable innovation, and facilitating knowledge transfer within the community through teaching, education, and mentorship. She is actively involved in the community as Provincial Board Member of the British Columbia Institute of Agrologists (BCIA) and Mentor to Articling Agrologists, Mentor with Invest Kelowna Connector Program, and Council Member with the Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) Water Stewardship Council.
Theresa grew up in the Okanagan with an appreciation for the outdoors, and enjoys camping, hiking, paddleboarding, and visiting the many wineries of the region. An avid traveler, she has toured extensively across Europe and North America, with a passion for architectural and landscape photography. A runner since the age of 17, she has completed several half marathons, but now enjoys leisurely morning runs with her dogs, yoga and pilates.
