Leanna Warman

Conservation Ecologist

Leanna first became aware of the vital conservation work that The Nature Trust of BC was doing in the South Okanagan during her employment as a Wildlife Technician with the Ministry of Environment, Lands, and Parks in Penticton, BC in the mid-1990s. Since that time she has been involved with several Nature Trust ventures and in 2006, she joined The Nature Trust of BC as the Ecosystem Specialist.

She has over 25 years of education and experience in the fields of ecology and conservation planning and has worked on various conservation projects throughout British Columbia. Focal areas have included projects in the South Okanagan, East Kootenay, and Southwest Coast, including systematic conservation planning for prioritizing areas based on their ecological significance, assessing the ecosystem quality of priority areas in the field, landscape management planning, and evaluating the ecological value of conservation lands both in the field and using GIS. At a broader scale, she has worked on projects related to mapping and analyzing patterns of biodiversity and ecological values in British Columbia, as well as systematic conservation planning research at a national scale.

Leanna holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, option Ecology from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Science from the Department of Zoology, UBC.

Leanna joined The Nature Trust in 2006.
