Vancouver Island has some of British Columbia’s most iconic natural scenery, from lush old-growth forests, to rivers teeming with all five species of Pacific salmon, and picturesque coastal scenery. Yet, the ecosystems on Vancouver Island are at a great risk of being lost forever from pressures like development and climate change. Thanks to our community of supporters on Vancouver Island and beyond, we’ve protected an incredible 8,220 acres of land for conservation in the West Coast region. Across B.C., we’ve conserved over 180,000 acres — and we’re not done yet.
We’re racing to protect more of British Columbia’s lands and waters forever for the wildlife, plants, and people that rely on natural spaces to thrive. You can help!

Protecting the Kw’a’luxw (Englishman) River
For over 40 years, The Nature Trust of BC has worked to protect a vital lifeline on Vancouver Island — the Kw’a’luxw (Englishman) River. Now, we’re almost finished fundraising to protect 13 acres of the Kw’a’luxw River Estuary that provides a haven for all five species of Pacific salmon plus 250 wildlife species like black bear, cougar, deer, river otter, and Roosevelt elk.
We’re only $15,000 away from protecting these critical lands and waters forever. Learn more here, and donate here.
