Finance Coordinator

The Nature Trust of British Columbia is a leading non-profit land conservation organization dedicated to protecting critical habitat for wildlife, fish, and plants in BC. Since 1971, we have secured 180,000 acres of ecologically significant land.

The Nature Trust of British Columbia (NTBC) is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Finance Coordinator to join the team. The Finance Coordinator will conduct day to day bookkeeping, prepare financial information, and support the Director of Finance to provide information to staff and Board members on a wide range of financial issues throughout the year.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Vancouver, B.C. The Finance Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations for GL accounts.
  • Manage accounts payable and Visa statement processing.
  • Responsible for donation processing, bank deposits, and revenue journal entries.
  • Act as the lead for year-end preparations for the external auditor.
  • Prepare and file quarterly GST returns.
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reporting for senior managers.
  • Oversee contribution agreement tracking, reporting, payment deadlines, etc.
Qualifications

You must have a positive attitude, have a constant desire to learn, be well organized, and be able to work in a fast paced environment with a focus on quality.

  • Diploma in business administration or accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2nd year completion of CPA program preferred;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with full cycle accounting;
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • The ability to communicate effectively both internally with staff and with external stakeholders;
  • Competency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office programs;
  • The ability to make modifications to business practices to improve the effectiveness of processes;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • The ability to maintain, in the strictest confidence, information received concerning confidential matters;
  • The ability to apply knowledge, experience, and commitment in the area of conservation;
  • You must be legally allowed to work in Canada and reside in Metro Vancouver.
