Dr. Rob Butler

Dr. Rob Butler is President of the Pacific WildLife Foundation and an Adjunct Professor of Biological Sciences at Simon Fraser University. He is a former senior scientist with the Canadian Wildlife Service. Rob is a Fellow International of the Explorers Club, a Fellow of the American Ornithologists’ Union, and an Outstanding Alumnus of Simon Fraser University and Distinguished Alumnus of Capilano University. He has served on the executive of many national and international science, education and conservation committees. He is the Chair of the Vancouver International Bird Festival and on the National Committee of the International Ornithological Congress 2018. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Important Bird Areas in Canada, the Young Naturalists Club of BC, and the Pacific WildLife Foundation. Rob is also an author of scientific and popular books, and a blog for the Vancouver Sun. His bird paintings have been presented to Prime Ministers and Presidents, and held in collections in North America, Europe and Asia.

Rob has been a Director since 2010.
