The United Nations declared 2010 to be the International Year of Biodiversity. It is a celebration of life on earth and of the value of biodiversity for our lives. Nature provides many gifts, from fresh air and clean water to places to renew our spirit. The Nature Trust of British Columbia is pleased to be hosting biodiversity events this year across the province. The Nature Trust of BC is a leading non profit land conservation organization headquartered in BC. Our mandate is to protect British Columbia’s natural variety of wildlife and plants and their critical habitats. We do this through the acquisition and management of ecologically significant land such as coastal estuaries, interior grasslands and wildlife migration corridors in the Okanagan and Kootenays, and wetlands in the Peace River. Our success can be attributed in large measure to our partnerships. Since 1971, The Nature Trust of BC along with our partners has invested more than $68 million to secure over 61,000 hectares (150,000). The need to continue our work has never been greater. We must continue to do more land acquisition, more land management and more community education. This is a big job. No one organization can do it alone. Please join The Nature Trust of BC and keep BC a special place for future generations.
