The Nature Trust has been able to accomplish significant land conservation and habitat restoration with the assistance of a wide variety of partners, including corporate ones. Here are some key supporters:

EnCana Corporation became a valued partner with a pledge of $750,000 over 10 years. EnCana is one of North America’s leading independent oil and gas companies. Headquartered in Calgary, EnCana is driven to be the industry’s high performance benchmark in production cost, per-share growth and value creation.

The Nature Trust’s approach to environmental stewardship is one that protects forests, rivers, streams and unique plains regions. In my view, the Nature Trust has a sound environmental approach and a balanced perspective.

Gwyn Morgan, President and CEO, EnCana Corporation

FortisBC contributed $600,000 to be used in acquiring critical habitat in the South Okanagan and to assist with the South Okanangan-Similkameen Conservation Program. FortisBC is an integrated utility operating in the southern interior of British Columbia, serving directly and indirectly approximately 140,000 customers. The utility has 4 hydroelectric generating plants with a combined capacity of 205 megawatts and 10,000 kilometers of transmission and distribution power lines.

In all of our undertakings, we genuinely consult with our stakeholders and our project decisions reflect that consultation. Environmental stewardship is important to us and we will continue to work with groups such as The Nature Trust of British Columbia and its regional partners to ensure that the environmental impacts of our work are addressed.

Don Debienne, Vice President, Generation, FortisBC Inc.

HSBC Bank Canada has donated $100,000 over two years to support an innovative environmental education program, aimed primarily at Lower Mainland youth and First Nations communities, that will focus on the Fraser River and its ancient resident, white sturgeon.
HSBC Bank Canada, a subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc, offers day-to-day banking, lending, and investment products and services through its more than 170 offices.

At HSBC, we believe that supporting educational and environmental projects will lead to a better future and benefit the entire community so we are very pleased to help establish the HSBC Fraser River Sturgeon Education Program.

Lindsay Gordon, President and Chief Executive Officer,
HSBC Bank Canada

TimberWest is a partner with The Nature Trust in conserving the Englishman River on Vancouver Island. Since 1982, TimberWest and its predecessor companies have been pioneers in second-growth harvesting on the BC coast.

Collaborating with The Nature Trust and its partners to conserve the area made perfect sense to us. TimberWest agrees with The Nature Trust that it was in the best interest
of the community to look after and enhance the special environmental, fisheries, wildlife, water and recreational
values here.

Paul J. McElligott, TimberWest CEO

Weyerhaeuser became a partner along with The Nature Trust on the expansion of MacMillan Park on Vancouver Island. In addition, Weyerhaeuser assisted with conservation of the Englishman River, one of BC’s most endangered rivers. Weyerhaeuser Company is an international forest products company founded in 1900 and employing 55,000 people in 18 countries.

Cathedral Grove at MacMillan Park is one of our province’s truly unique legacies and Weyerhaeuser is pleased to play a role in this initiative to nearly double the size of the original park.”

Tom Holmes, Vice President, Canadian Timberlands, Weyerhaeuser Company Limited
